The parsha of Torah we read this week is Vayishloch. This parsha is really loaded, containing the story of Jacob being given the name Israel, his confrontation with his brother Esau (whom he had feared greatly since his youth when he tricked his father, Isaac, into giving him Easu's blessing), the rape of Jacob's daughter Dinah and subsequent massacre of Shecham by Jacob's sons Levi and Simeon, the birth of Benjamin, the death of Rachel, Reuben sleeping with Jacob's mistress, and Isaac's death.
Whew! A lot of info to digest in a quick read, but it sure does cover some interesting points that I will hope to later relate to lessons we find important today.
Good Shabbos!

good shabbos, madze.
A very interesting point was made to me how in this week's reading about the difference between the way that Shecham presented the seemingly generous terms with Israel in how they would bring them into Shecham following Dinah's rape and give them the key to the city, but when speaking to the "Shecham Street" the king had a completely different spin.
How often do we see the "Palestinians" and other moslems speak in english one thing ("we condemn this act of terror"), but then to the Arab street sing a completely different tune ("Death to the Jews! The blessed Martyrs are now in heaven with their virgins!")
While it could be argued that Simeon and Levy may have went too far in killing every male in Shecham, it certainly is true that the Jews cannot give in to the Arabs and their lies. God willing, a strong willed leader will emerge who will remove the moslem cancer from the Land of Israel soon and in our days.
