Calling it a new level of hatred, an Israeli monitor of Arab media condemned the Palestinian Authority for broadcasting a feature that called for the expulsion of Israelis from the Holy Land.
"It is time for you [Israelis] to be gone," said a voice over images of Tel Aviv and an Israeli flag. "Live wherever you like, but don't live among us. It is time for you to be gone. Die wherever you like, but don't die among us."
Oh, in case you concessionists didn't know it, PA TV is owned and operated by the Palestinian Authority, headed by the "moderate" Chairman Mahmoud Abbas whom Sharon and Bush have embraced as a real "partner in peace".
Itamar Marcus of Palestinian Media Watch said the feature, broadcast Dec. 20 and on a previous occasion, was "yet another program on Palestinian Authority television calling for the destruction of Israel."
Segments of the program, which focused on the town of Jaffa, can be viewed here. In the feature, all of Israel's coastal cities, Acre, Haifa, Caesarea, Ashdod, Ashkelon and Jaffa, are said to be situated in what is "known today as Palestine," making Israel non-existent.
The final words of the program recited Israeli-Arab poet Mahmoud Darwish:"It is time for you [Israelis] to be gone. Live wherever you like, but don't live among us. It is time for you to be gone. Die wherever you like, but don't die among us. We have the past here. We have the present, the present and the future… So leave our country, our land, our sea, our wheat, our salt, our wounds. Everything. And leave the memories."
Some of the more naive concessionists believe that retreating from all land in which Jews are the minority will actually help stregthen the Jewish State. Well, with large Arab populations in Jerusalem, Acre, Haifa and Jaffa that will make one hell of a country, won't it? We can call your new state: The Cowardly Homosexual State of Tel Aviv.

And though I get his story, I dont get some things in the 1st few paragraphs - namely what he refers to as "Jewish guilt".
This is new to me and something I cannot even guess at.
Please enlighten me.
i've heard of jewish guilt also, rwm. although i grew up in a catholic household - i often heard of catholic guilt also. funny guilt would be relegated to an entire faith - sure wish muslims would develop some!
p.s. rwm - i believe it has to do with not fighting back and maintaining a pacifist stance in the past. now they say, "never again". madze will correct me if i'm wrong.

Being Jewish, I will take a stab at an answer. Originally, Jewish guilt meant you were guilty because you didn't fuuly observe the commandments of the Torah. If you worked on the Shabbos or ate pork, you broke G-d's law and were guilty.
In modern secular Judaism, guilt is felt when the person has something that someone else doesn't. Since the poor are merely 'unfortunate', anything you have is due to 'fortune'. This, for liberals, is cause for passing social welfare legislation.

I agree with you. Don't get so excited. Take a commandment in the Torah for the poor; say "Don't harvest the corners of the field; this is for the poor" If you didn't obey this no court could make you. You suffered loss of status that everyone knew you were breaking G-d's law. G-d himself could also punish you in some other way. In other words, you were expected to share but didn't have to. It is the legal force that is immoral.
kuhnkat - an excellent read regarding the 613 laws is by rabbi joseph telushkin and is called "biblical literacy". so very interesting and central to christian understanding of what it means to keep "the law" of moses. in the new testament that (or those) law(s) were fulfilled in our messiah and we are bound only by the laws (ten commandments) of G-d.
in searching the o.t., you will find the laws of moses were written by moses by his own hand as given to him by J_h_v_h (G_d) - but, and here is the AHA moment - G-d inscribed HIS law upon the stone tablets with HIS own hand.

as i've said before and will say, hopefully, a million more times - the old testament will stand upon its own, but the new testament CANNOT stand upon anything without the old testament. christians CANNOT be christians without the old testament.
kyle, a very good israeli organization we support when we can is magen david adom - they do emergency response in the instances of terrorist escapades. they treat ANYONE injured. as israelis go - there is no such thing as a wasted life, muslim or otherwise. perhaps that's where israel has gone wrong as madze points out on a daily basis.

The OT is their foundation and while being fervently Christian, they base their morality more on the OT than the NT.
From a Catholic perspective, the NT was edited and compiled in accordance with the OT.
Whatever didnt jive with Judaism wasnt allowed in the NT - and Christ set the standards in the doctrine he laid out to his apostles - which was over 3 centuries old when the bible was finalized.
The NT took approx 150yrs to write and another 150yrs of debate (even a cpl of fist fights lol) and discernment before they were done deciding what fit and what didnt.
Catholicism focuses intensely on Christ, but the doctrine as a whole deliberately bears out the 10 commandments and relies on the teachings of the prophets for structure.
Isaiah and Elijah are the 2 I hear the most.
Sadly though, the gates of hell have prevailed against some of the mainstream protestant sects and they've gone left.

rwm - much damage has been done while people sleep. i call it the "fat, dumb, and happy" syndrome. it is not a title the catholics hold exclusively. we all become complacent in our perfect worlds and soon forget there are others besides us. that is one reason i do not believe religion holds much water - if there were no religion yet the same faith, the world would be much better off.
i appreciate when a particular "religion" is exposed as it forces their hand to do the right thing or fold.
