Peretz defeats Peres

Great news!!! In the Labor party primaries in Israel, ArutzSheva News is reporting that Shimon Peres has been unseated by Amir Peretz. Why does MZ care which socialist is in charge of the Labor party, you may ask?

Well, he cares because if Shimon Peres had won, the leftwing coalition he had made with Likud that's allowed Mr. Sharon to stay in power would have continued. Peretz, however, intends to pull Labor out of its coalition with Likud and become an opposition party, causing Sharon's government to collapse and early elections to begin!

MZ has been anxiously awaiting Yassir Sharon's demise for a looong time. God willing, this will now finally happen and the expelled settlers will be avenged.

Hot Update!
Amir Peretz in his victory speech announced Labor will leave Sharon's coalition. A true socialist, Peretz is interested in Labor being an opposition party that fights capitalism and privatization. As leftist as Peres may have been, Peretz is promising to move the party further still to the left like it was before 1977 when Likud ended Labor's socialist domination.

Yassir Sharon? What kind of fascist website are you running here "MAD". I hope you get your wish that the government falls, that way Labor can take over, ship out all those lunatic settlers from Palestinian land, return to the '67 borders, and finally have something you war mongers hate...peace.

Stop bulldozing the homes of Palestinians, stop taking their land for your religious freaks, and stop keeping the Palestinians unemployed and impoverished you may have some progress, Madfascist.

So, Leftontop, you feel if Israel just capitulated to every moslem demand then everything would be just fine.

Mmmm...hmm...So, what do they put in that leftwing kool-ade, anyhow? Please tell us how obeying the moslems' demands will bring about peace for Jews, and do so quickly because I'm feeling very Richard Poe at the moment, and you're starting to smell quite trollish.

Oh please don’t ban Lefty MZ. He makes leftists look so silly. This comment is really good:

"...stop keeping the Palestinians unemployed and impoverished you may have some progress..."

In response I would have to say Lefty should stop smokin that wacky tobaccie. Get real…before 1967 Egypt and Jordan kept the Palestinians stateless, poor and without rights.

When the Israelis kicked out the Arab occupiers they gave the Palestinians jobs and are now giving them their own country. Something that Egypt and Jordan refused to do.

With the current Intifada the Israelis have to keep out suicide bombers or they will blow up every restaurant and bus in Israel. This has led to financial hardship on the Palestinians, but the blame goes to Palestinian terrorists. Not to the Israelis who are merely trying to keep out terrorists. They would love to continue to have access to cheap Palestinian labor.

Arab leaders have always profited from Palestinian suffering. This is all a big show. Muslim hatred hurts both the victims and Muslims.

From Algeria to Israel, from India to Russia, from Bangladesh to Thailand, from Iraq to Afghanistan, from Spain to the US, from Indonesia to the Philippines. Terrorism is not a legitimate political tool, stop supporting it.

FreedomnOw: Why, if I may ask, do you choose a capital "O" in your moniker? Just curious...is it a typo, or does it have a special meaning?

the pali's do not want to work. if they did, why did they destroy the greenhouses that were the main source of income for their own people before this? have any of them worked a day since? the arabs who worked for the israelis are suffering greatly because of this stupidity. and why would they want to work when eu has alloted 280 million to them this year - where is the money going?

Still waiting for Leftontop to explain how appeasement of moslems will lead to peace for Israel. If he will provide an example of when capitulation has worked in the past to create peace between moslems and non-moslems it would be most appreciated.

Shalom, chaver -

I'm with you; I was surprised but delighted to see Perez go down (even considering his election history LOL I thought he might actually get this one).

Now he and Abu Sharon can form a new "centrist" suicide party, which perhaps they could call "Shtuyot".

I'm a fan of Moishe Feiglin, myself. What do you think?

morning madze - i feel you will be waiting for some time as such evidence does not exist as far as i know. the dissention started with isaac and ishmael (the wild ass) and has been ongoing for quite a few years. talk about a family feud!

6PO,

I am indeed a Feiglin fan, though I am so mistrustful of Likud that just by being associated with that corrupt party is problematic to me.
He is what Israel needs, though: a kippah wearing PM.

Personally, I would prefer to see Benny Elon and the National Union party in charge of the government.

MZ-

Agreed, the "right road to peace" is the best plan.

That said, what I fear is the inability of our cherished religious-national camp to function in the halls of the Knesset.

I feel like Feiglin is better established in the government, and he somehow just feels more "practical" to me in terms of generating real manhigut yehudit.

I think I'd rather have Benny Elon over for Shabbat, tho' :-)

Nanc,

If you pay attention to Israel's critics one of their mantras is that the Israelis are using the Intifada as an excuse to financially hurt the Palestinians. Many Palestinians have jobs in Israel or in Israeli settlements.

With the current suicide bombing campaign the Israelis have had to restrict the movement of terrorists which hurts Palestinians with those jobs.

Their suffering is something that Islamists have taken advantage of and they seek to increase the misery in order to popularize the violence.

The Intifada is modern history’s most sick campaign of violence and subterfuge. Are there any honest Palestinian leaders at all?

tazz - on the other side of the world in some places, left IS right and right IS left. it is a difficult concept, one which is at times hard for anyone of us to understand. not to butt in on madze, but the previous german elections gave me a jolt with this concept. still trying to figure it out.

madze - did you check this article out in the jerusalem post:

http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1131367050785&pagename=JPost/JPArticle/Printer

all very interesting, except when i checked the date of rabin's death it was 11/04, not 11/09 - what gives there?

Taz, Peretz the leftist is only good for Israel because he will have Labor leave the unity government and bring about early elections. Surely you must know by now that I want a rightwing nationalist government to be in power, not leftists. Give me some credit!

After all, I AM the Madzionist, you know. :)
