Pat Robertson comments on Sharon

What do you all think of these words from Pat Robertson?

“He was dividing God's land and I would say woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the EU, the United Nations, or the United States of America," Robertson said on his television program, “The 700 Club," Broadcast from his Christian Broadcasting Network in Virginia Beach. “God says 'this land belongs to me. You better leave it alone.’”

Robertson said that he had personally prayed about a year ago with Sharon, whom he called “a very tender-hearted man and a good friend." He said he was sad to see Sharon in this condition.

Look, I am not one to celebrate the demise of a man who for most of his life did so much good for the Jewish people and the State of Israel. That said, these comments from Robertson seem very reasonable, respectful and biblically accurate despite what the leftwing media is saying. At least that's how I see it. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

You know, I heard scathing attacks on Robertson all over the news today, but the fact is he didn't say anything inflamatory as I see it. He praised Sharon as a friend, but noted that his actions in Gaza are something that God does not take very kindly to according to the bible.

He is a preacher speaking on a religious program, after all. Why is he under fire for this? Is he going to be censured from speaking out against homosexuality, too? How about all the "thou shalt nots" in the bible? Are they all off limits because the left believes only in "thou shall?" I find this opportunism by the left to slander Pat Robertson deplorable. It's really a direct attack on freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

I think the American people who love Israel and are religious will only be that much more determined to defend Robertson because of the totalitarian left's unwarranted attack.

The more they do this cheap shot journalism against the right the stronger we become.

I don't think Pat Robertson was being nearly as inflammatory as the mainstream media has made him out to be (of course, no surprise that the MSM would attack him, though). But I think his timing wasn't very gracious. This doesn't make him necessarily wrong (or correct), but I think a much wiser response is what Rabbi Lazer Brody wrote in his blog: http://lazerbrody.typepad.com/lazer_beams/2006/01/a_brother_is_a_.html

The left hates Pat so badly because of his media clout and because he aint afraid of em.

He's not the only Christian saying what he does but he's got the means to say it REAL loud - and that is something they believe should be reserved for the left.

Meanwhile swine like that no-talent pervert Howard Stern are praised by the same people.

Kuhnkat: The Left uses some orifices more frequently than others ... : )

MZ: No softness, now! Remember all the good people uprooted and those yet to be ... no tears for Sharon from me ... and I am not even Jewish

i love pat, but he needs to shut up! his comments, because he is such a public figure, need to be reflective rather than so pointed at a time like this. they need to retire him. there is such thing as class and he has shown none in his statement. he does not represent this christian!

I think someone should lock Pat Robertson in a room and force him to read C. S. Lewis' Mere Christianity and The Problem of Pain until he learns something.

Rewarding murders with land, to me, is so much more heinous then speaking your mind.--But then again, I am Rightminded, and Sharon was not for some time now!
