Jews in Judea and Samaria to secede from the State of Israel?

I've heard a bit about this movement for awhile now, and, while it seems impossibly remote that it could actually happen, I personally believe it is an excellent idea. It would allow for a secular Jewish State to exist side-by-side with a religious Jewish State. No more religious tension amoung Jews in the Land! Meanwhile, the moslems can just go to...

Here's a few excerpts from the report.

JERUSALEM – A new movement is set to be presented next week by residents of Judea and Samaria calling for Jews there to secede from Israel and create their own autonomous Jewish entity in part to head off the possibility of further unilateral Israeli withdrawals from the area, WND has learned.

The Judea Initiative, led by northern Samaria resident Yekutel Ben Yaacov, is seeking to gather signatures from Judea and Samaria's nearly 200,000 Jews for a manifesto declaring the creation of a sovereign Jewish authority that would govern itself independently according to Jewish law and would provide its own security.

"We can't sit around and wait until Israel sends the bulldozers to take down Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria before attempting to counter the next Israeli withdrawal. We are acting now so we can retain our rightful biblical heritage," Ben Yaacov told WND.

Like I said, we'll see if this initiative goes anywhere. I have serious doubts about it becoming a reality anytime soon, but who knows?

Heck the jihadis might even let em do it.
They just want their trophy - Jerusalem right now, and a division would greatly weaken their hated enemy.

Once they have it though, Judea and samaria would be bloodbaths.
They'd have no military tech worth mention and would be vastly outnumbered.

I think its a fatal idea.

Boker Tov (tho a sad one, Arik has died, G-d keep him)

I think there are a lot of religious and YESHA-based serving in TzaHaL, esp in the Special Forces of all stripes.

Maybe this truth could at least force a better negotiating stance with regard to how the IDF is used?

I, too, fear that this plan is a little TOO David/Goliath, but Kuhnkat is right. With G-d, all things are possible; and I believe that it is G-d's wish that we stay in Eretz Yisrael and keep it holy, as we would our shulim or our own souls.

Well said Kuhnkat.
Sadly, all out war is the only answer with any hope of success and it must be the Israelis that wage it.
If they did it while GW is in office they could at least count on US support.
If they wait too long and the left (God forbid) regains power, they will be isolated - and considering the assmonkeys leading them now, Israel would be screwed because it would be the jihadis receiving support instead (as they did with the Clinton/Arafat love affair, but far worse).

Capitulation or division is suicide and someone correct me here, but it seems that Jerusalem is essential to Israel.

I would also point out that the infant Jewish state had munitions from the West.
I dont think Judea and Samaria would be similarly equipped, supported, or even recognized.
I would also point out that the muslims hate religious Jews most of all because it is they who justify Israel.

I am utterly horrified by the idea of secession because I am utterly convinced it would put Israel's neck on a sure chopping block.

Another thing of note: Iran isnt the threat to Israel they pretend to be and Israel would be far better served if they focused on Syria.
Iran doesnt care about Arabs.
Persians hate Arabs.
Their sabre-rattling is an attempt to build prestige against the West and if anyone should fear them, it's their old enemies, the Iraqis.

If Israel stomped Syria, Iraq would stabilize faster and wouldnt have to watch their back as they faced Iran.
As it stands thay have enemies on both sides trying to foment civil war, and with a Shia majority, Iran has their foot in the door already.
If they succeed, Iraq would fail, a huge sectarian war would ensue, and we would lose the ME to jihadis.

In light of all this, I would say the West is as dependent on Israel taking action as they are on us.

I pray someone notices.

Agred.
I suppose I shouldve said "iminent" threat.
I imagine th eIranians are more interested int he Iraqi oilfeilds at this point, and the Shia/Sunni divide would ensure a civil war over them.
Afterwards though, Im sure Israel would be their next target.
If Syria were defeated though, Iraq might not have civil war and could serve as a buffer.

It's so hard to make sense of it all.
No matter the scenario, it seems the only solution will be to crush them all from Morrocco to Pakistan.

JB asks: Wonder if a separate Jewish state based on religious Zionism would be able to defend itself without aid from a mostly secular Israel?

Well, JB, it depends on what the relationship between the Secular Israel and the Torah Judea would be like. I think there are enough religious zionists in the IDF and in Israeli politics that there is no way the new State of Judea would be left hung out to dry.

In all probability, though, if this idea were to become real it would trigger a civil war within Israel. What such a conflict would look like is impossible to imagine right now.
