The liberal organization Gush Shalom, to which Yassir Sharon and other concessionist leaders have bowed to in recent years by offering mass prison releases of terrorists and Land for Peace capitulations, are now advertising in Ha'aretz, Israel's leftwing rag sheet, calling for the release of terrorist ringleader Mahrwan Barghouti from jail where he is serving multiple life sentences.

The Haaretz ad was sponsored by the Gush Shalom Peace Bloc, an extreme leftist Israeli organization that calls for a Palestinian state in the entire West Bank and the eastern sections of Jerusalem, and the dismantlement of Israel's security fence.
Adam Keller, a Gush spokesman, told WND his group is advocating for Barghouti's release because "he is obviously a senior leader of the Palestinian people. This is the case whether he is in prison or not. He is involved through messengers with every important PA decision. Without him, nothing comes forward."
Asked whether his organization was concerned with Barghiouti's status as a convicted murdered and confessed senior terror leader, Keller replied, "If killing civilians is something that disqualifies leaders, then [Israeli Prime Minister Ariel] Sharon and many ex-military generals should not be in positions of power."
Continued Keller: "It's true Barghouti can be dangerous. When the Palestinians are at war, he is a very bad enemy to have. But when there is a peace process, he can be extremely important. Barghouti is quite willing to support peace with Israel."
Keller says he takes issue with using the term "terrorism" to describe attacks by Barghouti's Al Aqsa group, which openly targets men, women and children in all parts of Israel.
"When you have foreign rule, the people under occupation rebel in an attempt to create their own state," explained Keller. "Those under occupation try to exact a heavy price to take out the occupation. Those are what the attacks are for. The occupying state eventually has to deal with the people it calls terrorists and murderers. ... There can be no questions Israel will have to set Barghouti free."
No real surprise here, but always interesting to observe liberal insanity in action.

Typical of the chicken hawk right to mock those who strive for peace. Freeing Barghouti would be a gesture that would show Israel is finally ready to make an effort to right their wrongs, but you radical religious freaks are so filled with hate that you will do anything to sabotage hope for the Palestinians.
Oh, and I read what David said in another thread and he is absolutely right about Fox, Debka and the right wing blogs. The BBC, Al Jazeera, Reuters, The Guardian, and others are the only ones to be trusted to get the story right. Also, and I'm sure David would agree, we are PROGRESSIVES - not merely "liberals" - which means we are attempting to advance society to a place of tolerance and peace.
Whether Israel has a place in that world is certainly debatable.
